Regardless, kickass metal ringing out while slaying monsters is something that I don’t think will ever get old. These sort of games have never really been my strong suit but maybe the action elements carry more weight to the game than I expect. What’s interesting is that while the game appears to be a top-down action title, it’s a turn-based roguelike under the hood similar to the Mystery Dungeon games but with a lot more guns than usual. Lastly, Classic Mode strips away the story, branching areas, special levels, all for focused action. Endless Mode creates randomized levels without episodes for continuous play. Arena sees players defending against waves of enemies. Trials Mode allows players to tailor their run with various traits.
